IJmuiden beach with four zones: dogs off-leash from 1 October to 1 April on zones 1 and 2, from 1 April to 1 October on zones 3 and 4.

According to the municipality of Velsen, different rules apply per zone on the beach at IJmuiden. The zones are shown on a small map on the signs at the beach entrances. According to the municipality's zoning map (2019), zone 1 lies against the south pier (Zuidpier) and the numbering runs south to zone 4. From 1 October to 1 April, dogs may run free on zones 1 and 2. From 1 April to 1 October, dogs may run free on zones 3 and 4; on zones 1 and 2 dogs are then not allowed. On the Kleine strand ('small beach') between the north pier (Noordpier) and the south pier, dogs must be on a leash from 1 October to 1 April and are not allowed from 1 April to 1 October. For zones 3 and 4 between 1 October and 1 April, the municipality's page says nothing.
