Nieuw Wulven lies southwest of Utrecht, on the border of the municipalities of Bunnik and Houten, and is a varied recreation area with woods, meadows and ditches. A loop around the outer edge takes about two hours; dogs can splash around freely in the many bodies of water. Dogs may run off-leash across most of the area, except in the wooded play section. During the nesting season (15 March – 15 July), a leash is required everywhere except in the Drasbos. Because wildlife also roams the area, dogs need to stay reliably under voice control.
