The municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland designates Strand De Punt, between De Punt and the Oosterscheldekering near Westenschouwen, as the only beach on Schouwen-Duiveland where dogs may run off-leash year-round, without seasonal restrictions. A quiet, wide beach with a view of the storm surge barrier. On other Schouwen-Duiveland beaches, seasonal rules apply (e.g. a daytime leash requirement during the swimming season), and Verklikkerstrand requires a leash from 1 April to 15 September because of nesting birds.
