About this place

Small but charming Utrechts Landschap woodland where dogs may run off-leash year-round, provided they stay under voice control.

Lockhorsterbos in Leusden was, in 1927, the very first piece of land acquired by Utrechts Landschap. The wood consists of a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees, with centuries-old oaks and beeches, and is home to all kinds of birds such as tits, woodpeckers and occasionally the kingfisher. On the east side flows the Heiligenbergerbeek, where dogs can happily splash about. Dogs may run off-leash here year-round as long as they stay under voice control. A loop through the wood is about 1.5 kilometres.
